Storytime Theme :: Questions
January 2022
We're reading books, singing songs, and playing games about the questions we ask.
January 2020
This month our theme was “Asking Questions.” We practiced asking questions like “Who wears this hat?”, “What is this?”, “Where should we shake our shakers next?” and “When do we wiggle?”
Books we read:
Clothesline Clues to Jobs People Do by Kathryn Heling
What Do You Do with a Tail like This? By Steve Jenkins & Robin Page
Not a Box by Antoinette Portis
Where’s Walrus by Stephen Savage
First the Egg by Laura Vaccaro Seeger
Before & After by Jean Jullien
Songs we sang:
Questions Song (“B-I-N-G-O”)
We all have questions, yes we do,
And this is how we ask them:
Who, what, where, when, why (x3)
And that is how we ask them!
Puppy Pokey (“Hokey Pokey”)
You put your small paw* in,
You put your small paw out.
You put your small paw in,
and you shake it* all about.
You do the Puppy Pokey,
and you turn yourself around.
That’s what it’s all about!
*cold nose, snuffle / floppy ears, shake them / wagging tail, wag it / puppy self / shake it
Shake Your Shakers (“London Bridge”)
Shake your shakers, shake, shake, shake
shake, shake, shake, shake, shake shake
Shake your shakers, shake, shake, shake
Shake your shakers
Verses: Shake your shakers high, high, high
Shake your shakers low, low, low
Shake your shakers by your ear
Shake your shakers by your nose
Shake your shakers by your toes
Once There Was a Snowman
Once there was a snowman,
Snowman, snowman.
Once there was a snowman,
Tall, tall, tall!
In the sun he melted,
Melted, melted.
In the sun he melted,
Small, small, small.
